CULTURE AND HISTORY II
In this module, students will learn about the modern architectural timeline. This is done through a series of lectures, site visits and research projects. Each student will learn in depth the elements each architectural era has with the famous buildings and the concepts that architects of each era has to offer.

As for the assignments, through the study of existing buildings, students will learn how to communicate and and expand their own architectural vocabulary and develop design concepts.

Project 1: Timeline and Diagram Analysis
For this project, in a group of 12-13 students, students are given a region in Kuala Lumpur. They are required to select 10-15 post-independence buildings in the area, conduct a site visit, research and analyse it, compile the information and present it neatly in a chronological timeline diagram. The information that we have to present about each building include history, the type of modern architectural style and analysis diagrams.

The region that my group was given was North-East Kuala Lumpur. The building that I selected was Starhill Gallery in Bukit Bintang. The slides below shows the timeline that my group and I had done.

Project 2: Individual Report
In this assignment, in groups of 4, students have to choose one building that they have done together in the previous timeline project. They have to visit the building, conduct a detailed research and compile the information in a report. My group decided on Stadium Negara and this is the report that my group has done.
Reflection
After completing all this projects, I have to say that I have learnt a lot more about the modern buildings that we have in our country. It was really an eye opening as to how many modern buildings that was built in Kuala Lumpur. Now whenever I go into Kuala Lumpur,I can't help but keep looking outside of the car window to admire all the different architecture styles that skyline has to offer.
