Compare and Contrast Essay
For this second assignment, we were required to write a basic 5-paragraph expository or argumentative essay of a minimum 600 words, inserted with a pre-writing, as well as a complete list of APA referencing citations and references from the following topics:
1. University educationshould be restricted to the very best academic students, rather than being made available to a large proporton of young people. Think about the causes and effects of this statement very carefully and use that as a basis for a cause and effect essay.
2. Write a compare or contrast essay about any two unique buildings of your choice. You need to choose existin buildings and state their locations.
3. Select an exterior space of your choice. Then write a process essay to desrcibe the methods that are involve in designing the landscape for your selected area.
After writing the essay, we had to submit the essay through a turnitin link provided by Ms Thivilojana. We needed to get a similarity index of less than 20 percent.
Reflection
Through this assignment, I have learnt the importance of utilising the pre-writing method to pre-planned the structure of an essay so that the content of the essay is well-elaborated and organised. While trying out the pre-writing method,my ability and understanding on the proper technique of conducting research have also improved. In addition to that, I have also learnt the correct technique in applying APA referencing format for citations and reference lists. In conclusion, the techniques and methods that I've learnt through this assignment has enabled me to write essays in a better manner.
Preparation
For this assignment, I have chosen the second topic which is a comapare and contrast essay between two unique buildings. I have chosen the KLCC Petronas Twin Towers and Fallingwater. I chose the Petronas twin tower because it is an iconic building in our country and it has its own character. As for Fallingwater, it is a building built by the late Frank Lloyd Wright as a house for the Kaufmann family. It has that name because it looks like it was built above a waterfall. When doing this assignment, I had to do a lot of research to get all the supporting points I needed for the essay. I had to jot down all the points on piece of paper and rearrange the points into a table to show thw contrast between the two buildings.

When doing this assignment, I have learnt more about two unique buildings: the Petronas Twin Tower and Fallingwater. I have learnt about their history, their function and design elements. i have also learnt the name of the architect that designed the building and where they get their inspiration from.

In this assignment, I have improved my communication skills because I had to keep meeting up with Ms. Thivilojana when trying to complete this assignment.
I have learnt that the style of writing an essay and the style of speaking is different. When writing an essay, we shouldn't include words such 'la', 'ma', 'erm' and 'huh'. All this words are non-formal and will degrade the standard of the essay.
